The gemmological education was approved at Moscow University Geological department in 1996. Students are admitted for specialty “Geochemistry” in a general procedure and are forwarded to specialization “Gemmology” on a competitive basis in the middle of the second year of training. Also gemmological short training programs are available. These programs designed to provide knowledge and develop skills which are directly required in daily practical work. MSU courses were highly recognized by the industry and market.

Gemmological reports are widely used in the retail gemstones and jewelry trade. It distinguishes between genuine gemstones and numerous imitations, synthetic and treated stones that dramatically increase consumer’s trust. Laboratory report is third party service that guarantees gemstone’s quality.Our Lab provides the full range of gem identification and grading services.

MSU Gemmological Center is carrying out researches in various fields of gemmology independently and in cooperation with other scientific organizations. Up-to-date study techniques in gemmology include the techniques (e.g. spectroscopic, X-Ray and microprobe analyzes) that do not result in the destruction or damage of the objects under examination.
